Saint Adrien Church

Courbevoie, France

A stone's throw from the Arch of La Défense, is the Saint-Adrien de Courbevoie church. A long study was carried out to imagine this church. Completed in 2010 by the architect Vincent Bourgoin, it is bright and has a very beautiful wooden frame. The parish team contacted Fleur Nabert in 2006 to create the liturgical furniture. Sobriety, modernity and a palette of warm colors have been favored by the artist.

Liturgical furniture

The Ambon, the Altar and the Lectern are in bronze and of an identical patina to signify the link between the liturgy of the Word and the Eucharist.

The Ambon is marked with a large golden fault, inspired by Luke 12:49 "I have come to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it was already kindled! This motif of fire and clarity is the leitmotif of all creations.

The Altar, very sober and only marked with the cross to recall the Passion.

The Lectern has a shape very close to the Ambon, but to mark the difference between the Word of God and the word of men, and in this case the animation, it is made of transparent plexiglass. Likewise the fault of light is a simplified form of cel the ambo.

Inspired by ancient cathedra, the Presidency and the servant want to mark a certain majesty while also remaining sober. As a reminder that the priest celebrates the Eucharist in persona Christi, the files are marked with a golden cross.

The Tabernacle is located at the center of the church. Its golden door represents the paraclete, the spirit that Christ left to the world "I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Defender who will be with you forever: it is the Spirit of truth. »(John 14:16). The tabernacle is endowed with a luminous scenography which accentuates its radiance.

Finally at nearly 5 meters high, a great Risen Christ rises. He seems, in perspective, to have detached himself from the cross which is on the altar. The body is arched in a burst of life, the gold leaf gives it a singular luminosity. Cardinal Journet's words "Like an arrow of fire" inspired the creation.

Finally the whole wall is built in an ascending movement and forms a Trinitarian representation: the Holy Spirit on the tabernacle, the Son in the light of the resurrection, the invisible Father, in the clarity of the top of the church.
