Chapel of the Holy Lamb

Gare de Lyon, Paris 11

Right next to the Gare de Lyon in Paris, Fleur Nabert was called by Father François Schaeffer to complete existing furniture in the chapel. The altar, the ambo and the tabernacle did not present any figuration, it was therefore necessary to undertake an additional process as in Saint Justin of Levallois. In addition, a set of stained glass windows was designed: first behind the tabernacle, then a set of 9 bays in the hall which leads to the chapel.

Liturgical furniture

The altar was completed with a bronze pattern representing the Holy Spirit in all the momentum of his breath. In the same idea of movement, the ambo sees spinning around him, a philacterium circles around the ambo, carrying the Christ to its summit. On the tabernacle radiates the Eucharist near which two angels carry the light of the real presence.

The theme of water

In the entrance hall is a large series of nine thermoformed stained glass windows on the theme of water flowing from the temple which welcomes regulars and passing people waiting for a train, while giving a soul to the offices and meeting rooms that benefit from their light.

Behind the scenes of manufacturing

Made with the Loire workshops in Chartres with which Fleur Nabert has been working for years, these stained glass windows require special technicality. The patterns are carved in a bed of plaster. Then the artist places an overhanging glass plate on wedges. It is cooked at nearly 1000 degrees Celsius for 24 hours. The glass then takes the exact form of the plaster and takes on all the nuances of light.
