Notre-Dame and Saint Laurent Collegiate Church
Eu, Normandie
That I loved this place from the first sight. The white majesty of its fine columns which soar towards the sky. This breath, that elevates. The genius of the master builders of the Middle Ages managed to carve this immense vessel into a nave of light.
The Bresle region has a strong glass-making tradition, and from the very first moment the sponsors asked me to create glass furniture. This material that I love so much. But he was not at all present in the collegiate church. The challenge for me was therefore to marry it as naturally as possible with the architecture in two ways: by finding the colonnades in the glass, and by taking advantage of this bath of light. Gothic and contemporary thus interact through the common form of vertical lines. Natural daylight creates living furniture, which will be adorned with all shades: gray, blue, green, silver, gold. Colorless thermoformed glass has the ability to reflect the entire spectrum of light.
